5th Grade Hershey Track Meet! Yea, Josh!

Third Grade Program

 

Monday was Zach's 3rd grade program and portfolio share.  He did a great job and sang zip-a-dee-do-da, A Little Bit of Honey, Children of Many Colors, and "The Family, Foundation of our Nation".  They were so cute!  They had a "surprise" for the mom's and dad's and had made Indian shakers to use with an Indian song . . .

and used Kazoo's while they danced and sang "A Little Bit of Honey".

OK, so I didn't hint for a camera on purpose.  I thought that maybe for Christmas I'd gear up and start the hinting.  But look what I got!!!  What a great Mothers Day gift!  I love it. . . and now you can see what my family really looks like:)  Thanks Honey!   (It almost makes it worth birthing 6 children:)

A True Scout!

Here are my cubbies!  We went biking to the church learned some things about bike safety, made sure they could make sharp turns and emergency stops, (both important evasive maneuvers:)  then rode home. 

Right after the den meeting I decided to take a dinner in to an elderly neighbor who doesn't know me at all (yea, I'm one of those neighbors:).  I knocked on his door and he said
"Oh, you finally came."  I was surprised because he didn't know I would be coming.  He then realized that I was handing him a hot plate of food and he said "Oh, I thought you were a girl scout bringing me my girl scout cookies."  I explained who I was and why I was coming.  I didn't even think of the uniform I was still wearing. He said "I ordered my cookies about 2 years ago and I haven't gotten them yet."  My thought was . . . it would have been a lot longer than 2 years since I was a girl scout, but how flattering!  Then I realized that I was probably quite a scary looking "girl scout", but I had the uniform!  I hope he recovered and enjoyed the meal!

Happy Mothers Day, Grandma!

We had a wonderful visit on Mother's Day with Grandma and Grandpa Terry!  We are so honored to carry the Terry name and love George and Gerry so much!  Every Sunday night we know that we can stop at Scotts parents home and have a great visit and some delicious dessert.  Mom Terry is such a loving person who always puts everyone else first!  Scott had an ideal childhood and was watched over and cared for by his parents.  He spent his growing up years in Duchesne while his dad worked with the Bureau of Reclamation.  I am grateful every day for the love and care he received and now gives our children  . . . and me.  A huge THANK YOU for all they do for us!

A lesson in Perseverance!

A lesson in Perseverance!  I watched Tyler from the kitchen window.  He flipped, fell, stood with trepidation, the flipped again . . . fell again.  

He came inside, did some research on the internet, then went out to try again. 

He didn't give up.

Soon I, watching from the kitchen window, saw him flip . . . all 6 feet of him . . . flip and land on his back, on his side, but then . . .  then . . . on his feet!  

I love this boy!  Head to toe!  Love this boy!!!!

And I learned a lot that day, a lot about perseverance and the spirit of never giving up!

 

My New Life

HELLO HANDSOME!

Zach came in the other day and said, "If I could turn into anything I wanted, I would turn into myself, then I would look in the mirror and say, HELL-O HANDSOME!"

We have to agree that he is absolutely Handsome!!!

It always happens when Dad's gone!

The accidents always seem to happen when Dad's gone!

Zach was jumping on the trampoline and came in crying. . . hard.  I knew it wasn't the usual

sad cry . . . that he was really hurt (all the blood was a clue too).  I looked at his wound and saw that a butterfly wouldn't work.  He had quite a gash on his lip.  We grabbed a towel, some ice, and my wallet and headed to the after hours clinic.

One hour, 160 dollars, two new friends (the nurse and the nurse practitioner) 

and only 2 stitches later we were ready to head out.  

Zach was a trooper.  He tried a technique I learned during childbirth . . . sleep through it!

At least he tried (and I tried) and at least he was relaxed enough to make it 

a whole lot easier on the staff and himself!  

He was adorable!  I even thought he was asleep, but he wasn't.

Zach had a trophy wound when Dad came home!  

There's something satisfying about handling hard things  . . . even when Dad's gone!

Produce Galore!

Look what we got from our Co-op purchase!!!  I couldn't believe the amount of food for the amount of money!!!!  I love a great deal!

We ended up having so much produce and such a variety that we ate so much better!  

I ended up making this. . . .

A huge batch of Guacamole, tomatillo Salsa, and homemade taquitos.  

These were so good . . .  even leftover!

Okay.  I think you get extra points somewhere . . . home, heaven, . . .  the faculty room?!  I mean, when you decorate the teachers door for Teacher Appreciation week!  This is one of those things that you think will only take an hour or so, but ends up taking all day.  I kept thinking  . . . I'm so organized . . . I've shopped the dollar store, I've made a plan, I just need to cover the door, cut out the letters and stick all of these photos, etc. on the door.  Simple, right?


Not so simple.  The plastic tablecloth I wanted to use as the background paper wouldn't stick to the door and the photos wouldn't stick to the tablecloth, so plan B . . . use the schools paper:)  Luckily I have friends in high places and I got the OK by texting and didn't have to run around the school begging.  (Thanks Teresa!)

I ended up with this. . . .  Did I mention I need a new camera. . . . bad?

I also decorated Mr. Scoubes door because I'm head Room-Mom and found out that the mom who had signed up to decorate it wasn't going to be able to after all. 

It took a little more grit . . . after all he's a man. . . and I wasn't prepared with the plan, the dollar store and all.  So this is what I came up with . . .

The sad thing was. . . Mr. Scoubes wasn't even there.  He had a sub for 2 weeks while he was in Germany with the National Guard.  Maybe someone sent him a picture. . . you can tell why I didn't send one . . . did I mention I need a new Camera?

Zach received his Wolf Badge!

Zach earned his Wolf and was recognized at Pack Night on Wednesday.  He has worked hard and has had a lot of fun with his den.  His leaders were Rosalie Olsen and Hollie Larsen and they made it really fun. 

I'm excited because now Zach gets to come to the Bear Den meetings and I'm Bear Den Leader (with Hollie Larsen).  We are planning on hiking to Stewart Falls this summer and having a cook out at Diamond Fork campground.  We have some strong personalities and I love it!!!  It's so fun to see the boys learn and grow and work together.  We are so proud of Zach!!!
